The Grand Cherokee is a capable and reasonably refined SUV that can be outfitted for off-road adventure or a night on the town. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been the favorite go-anywhere rig for outdoorsy folks and active families since 1992, and for good reason. Its image as an off-roader is backed up by real ability, and if its capable of tackling the tough trails of Moab, Utah, its good enough for a snowy school run. With an exterior that can be dressed up or down and a cabin that can seat five in comfort, its still as flexible as it ever was. Plus, it now comes with most of the latest infotainment and connectivity features. The base V-6 pulls strongly enough and transmits very little vibration into the cabin, so its the powerplant wed prefer. Few drivers will be disappointed with the Grand Cherokee's handling. An interior full of high-tech features, easy-to-use controls, and comfortable seating makes the Grand Cherokee an agreeable companion. Altogether, the interior design is convincingly upscale, with all controls within easy reach. Utility vehicles are meant to be useful, and the Grand Cherokee succeeds in this regard, but some of its rivals simply provide more space and practicality. Jeeps excellent Uconnect infotainment system is among our favorites for its ease of use and snappy performance. The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a benchmark SUV; it's a luxury vehicle, a talented off-roader and a family wagon extraordinaire. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a great family vehicle, just one that's also potentially ready to go off-road, tow a trailer or, on occasion, do things that are more workhorse-like than you'd attempt in most other typical family crossovers. With the Grand Cherokee, Jeep has a classic SUV shape fitted with a slick, upscale cabin. The Grand Cherokee simply nails the "utility" part of the "sport-utility vehicle" formula, and top versions are downright swanky. The Jeep Grand Cherokee does many things right, but the most underrated of its talents might be how it carries up to five adults and cargo. We rate it at 10 out of 10 for comfort, utility and quality. It has very good seats front and back that actually can carry five adults and very good storage capacity. The Grand Cherokee doesn't shirk its cargo duties, either. You can flip down the rear seats with a single lever, and on some versions the front passenger seat folds flat, too, just in case you need to take a grandfather clock for a ride. The Grand Cherokee has entered the era of touchscreens and electronic gauges with much grace, and it seems like trim quality and materials have never been better.
