The 2025 Porsche 911, designated 992.2 in Porsche vernacular, continues its calculated evolution with the usual mild styling revisions and power upgrades. The coupe remains the cornerstone of the lineup, and the cabriolet and Targa models continue to deliver the same sharp handling and visceral thrills while the sun shines in. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Porsche 911 has earned a spot on our Editors Choice list for 2025. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six in the Carrera continues with the same displacement but sees updates including the intercooler from the previous GTS and a new turbocharger adapted from the same. Horsepower is up to 388, a 9-hp increase compared with the 2024 model, enough to shave a tenth of a second off the previous car's time of 3.2 seconds. The Carrera S provides extra power and performance, with its 473-hp version of the twin-turbo flat-six. It's only offered with an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the S also has the previous GTS model's upgraded brakes as well as a standard sport-tuned exhaust and improved dampers. A digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster hits the scene for the first time in the updated 911. Though it may disappoint purists, it does offer several neat features, including different display optionsincluding the classic center-tach, five-gauge layoutand the ability to rotate the tachometer so that 7000 rpm aligns straight up. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) utilizes a 10.9-inch display, and logging in to your Porsche ID is made easier with a new QR code prompt. Apple CarPlay returns, but now it can be displayed in the instrument cluster as well as the infotainment screen. If you were to create a hall of fame for sports cars, it's a certainty that the Porsche 911 would be in it. Beloved by owners worldwide, the 911 has provided superlative performance, style and refinement for decades. How comfortable is it?
